“For the Republic”
Royal Republic + Support in Rockhouse Salzburg (AT)
More pictures here, report below.
Royal Republic stopped by in Rockhouse Salzburg during their The Weekend Man Tour and we were there so we can tell you what it was like.
The Swedish Rock band brought two supporting acts with them and now we’re gonna take a look at the first one, Dinosaur Pile-Up from London.
Being the first time in Salzburg, Dinosaur Pile-Up delivered a loud, solid show, introducing their music to the Austrian crowds.
The band’s sound and show could remind one of something you’d describe as “new Nirvana” which wasn’t a bad thing at all! Be sure to check out their latest record “Eleven Eleven” too – It’s just heavier live.
The evening continued with Tim Vantol, a singer-songwriter from the Netherlands.
Do you happen to know the Czech musician Tomáš Klus? Well, that’s who Tim reminded me of the whole time. One wouldn’t really expect seeing a guy with his guitar as a supporting act for Royal Republic – but hey, nobody cares about your genre as long as you’re doing great music! And we all like when things get diverse.
The audience in the Rockhouse went crazy. Rightly so.
21:50, stagetime for the headliners of this Monday night.
Royal Republic started their set with “When I See You Dance With Another” and Salzburg could also hear tracks like “Astronaut” and “Baby” too, for example, all taken from their latest album “The Weekend Man”.
The very energetic bunch from Sweden was flirting with the audience and and it all felt like a big party. Everybody was dancing like if there’d be no tomorrow, even though it was a manic Monday.
“Here I Come There You Go”, “Tommy-Gun” and “Any Given Sunday” are just a few other notable examples of songs played that night.
It was hot. And the Rockhouse was packed.
Rockhouse is a venue that is still being truly authentic to the scene. It has an old-schoolish vibe to it and the atmosphere is always great. No matter what band you’re checking out there, it’s always a big pleasure for us being there.
There’s no other venue comparable to the Rockhouse. At least not in Austria.
Anyway, let’s look at the final rating of this evening…
If you want to have a great time at a show and forget about all your problems for a while, Royal Republic will do the trick!
